MBA in Luxembourg

Jason Roberts from Connecticut has first-hand knowledge that Luxembourg is an excellent place to study for your MBA

I leapt at the opportunity to study for my MBA in Luxembourg, and it's a decision I will recommend to any and every prospective MBA student. Before leaving for Luxembourg I made plans to rent out my apartment, leave behind my job and start fresh in a country with new faces and places. Before making the voyage abroad I enrolled in an intensive class that brought Luxembourg based students to the U.S, and became acquainted with a few of my future classmates. I was greeted with a hospitality I had never before experienced. I was meeting new people and making new friends. That proved to be the easy part.

Classes got underway and immediately I was back in the grind with papers to write and presentations to give. My first class, International Business, was twelve students representing eleven nationalities, and the majority of students spoke at least three languages. After a having a few classes where the number of nationalities represented rivaled the number of students enrolled, I began to think about my own experience, professional and otherwise. Were my new friends who I'd be competing against for jobs? Where had I been, and what had I dealt with in my life that could set me apart from my classmates? How did I get here and what can I bring to the table with my background and experience? To my left sat an Italian financial analyst who spoke Italian, French and English. To my right, a Luxembourgish civil engineer with aerospace studies and three languages under his belt. It was then that I realized the unique situation I was in.

I value those lessons I've realized inside the classroom, and put just as much emphasis on those I learn outside the classroom. I was ready for the culture shock before I came, or at least I thought I was. A twenty-four hour clock, public transportation, two hour lunch breaks, no fast food, and greetings with a kiss on the cheek (three of them), were all things that took some getting used to. But now, it's these cultural differences and the smaller nuances that keep my day exciting, and my favorite part of the MBA program abroad.

As one of the founding countries of the European Union and one of the financial capitals of the world, Luxembourg has proven a perfect place to live, learn and study. For those studying finance, an MBA degree in Luxembourg is well worth its return on investment. Luxembourg itself is small and country but for me it's the beginning of the world outside of the U.S. Located in the geographical center of Europe, what it lacks in size it makes up for in diversity. The ability to travel through parts of Europe, to taste different foods, encounter different cultures, and meet new people is an experience I attach to my MBA studies.
